I just got my hair done with streaks at the salon, but the red was not what I wanted, it's too bright,... HELP

OMG the EXACT same thing happened to me!! what i did totally worked.... ok so the good news is out of all the colors that u could get ur hair colored, red fades the quickest. i would suggest washing ur hair with a shampoo for brunettes, like u kno those shampoos that are meant for ppl with blonde hair, red hair, brown....get it yeah ok so thatll help tone it down and also make sure u wash ur hair evry day!!!!!! at least once, twice if u want it to fade reli fast!! also, DONT use those "keep the color in" shampoos!! thats wut ur trying to get RID of!!! lol hope that helped hon! if none of this works, go get ur hair done again (at a different place!) the color that u wanted.....also for the time being, act like it was wut u wanted...lol and put it up in a pony tail or sumthin or a hat..... those snowboard hats are in...lol good luckkkk!!! xoxo, caitlyn

Maybe it will tone down after you wash it a few times!

go back to the salon and tell them that you are unhappy with the results, sometimes they can give you a wash with the product called "malibu" (not sure on the the spelling of that) and it helps tone down the brassiness. Other than that, the reason your streaks is red is because they did not leave the bleach on long enough (you probably have a medium to dark shade hair) They did the same thing to me and I went back (the girl that did my hair was not there but another stylist said it had the red brassiness because they did not leave the bleach on long enough, the lightening goes through stages, and they should have done a strand test by wiping the product off of on strand and to see the color) I suggest going back to the salon and having them fix the problem, at NO charge

Try dandruff shampoo. On your dry hair apply dandruff shampoo, like head and shoulders to the areas you want lightened. Leave it in for about 15 minutes and wash it out. After doing this for about 3 days it should start to lighten.

My hairdresser told me this, and it works

Which colour should I dye my hair? Midnight purple or pillar box red?

it,s hard to say because we don,t know your skin tone, but whatever colour you choose will fade quickly. to save you having to make an expensive trip back to the salon before your roots are through, buy a temporary colour to match and apply this and it will revive your existing colour, and it,s really simple. good luck. xxxxxxxxxx

Which colour should I dye my hair? Midnight purple or pillar box red?

i'd definitely go for midnight purple. :)

Which colour should I dye my hair? Midnight purple or pillar box red?

if you want a color that is readily available, go for Loreal Blowout Burgundy you can get it at wal-mart and its really close to midnight purple and It won't fade as fast as the other's

Which colour should I dye my hair? Midnight purple or pillar box red?

as a salon owner if done properly pillar box red can be stunning, you don't say what your hair colour is now

it would require stripping your hair, then using a very good pillar box red colour, and then it would not fade, this colour is well in fashion, and I done one the other week for a client cut in a bob style, and yes it was pillar box red, it looked outstanding, although took a couple of hours to do

purple never quite looks right, unless in highlights

go red go red

How do i dye my hair from black to brown without it having a red tint to it?

I am doing this because I have a little bit of grey hair and i also want to switch it up from black to light brown. I am 16 yrs old.

How do i dye my hair from black to brown without it having a red tint to it?

dye it a dark brown first, then gradually lighten it. don't go all the way the first time

My friend had this problem aswell when she was using heena, and it turned her hair to a shiny red. To combat this, she grounded up brown coffee beans when she added it to her heena mix, and the next time she used it, a nice brown appeared.

So in my opinion, use heena with powdered coffee, but if you are going to use heena, make a small mix before hand and then place some hairs in the mix to see what colour it will change into, just incase this may ruin the colour of your hair instead of making it better

How do i dye my hair from black to brown without it having a red tint to it?

Hair dyed black is hard to remove, mask, or re-dye another color, especially lighter. The best thing for you to do is have a professional "strip" the old black dye and start fresh with the brown dye.

My hair is very dark brown and i want to dye it very subtle red should i go for a lighter dye becaus

natural hair colour? I'll do a test patch first obviously instead of slamming it all on and seeing how it turns out. Any body got any examples of hiar dye that might be good?

Try using Henna. Once you try it, you will be amazed and wish you had tried it sooner! It leaves dark brown hair with red highlights and creates a beautiful auburn color. It looks very pretty and healthy afterwards. Henna is great for the hair - it's all natural, it's lasts a very long time and it actually conditions your hair. Firstly, you need to make sure that you get 100% pure "body art quality" Henna - nothing with metallic salt compounds. And before doing anything, be sure to do a strand test as you mentioned by harvesting some hair from your hairbrush and dying it to see how it will turn out. In my opinion, Henna is the best dye for redheads or reddish hair. I use it because I hate the toxic chemicals that are found in regular hair dyes, and because the color always turns out so beautiful. I'm a redhead, so my shade from using Henna is more fiery than what yours will turn out to be - Henna doesn't lighten the hair, it just deposits color. If you're looking to lighten your hair, you may need to go to a salon first.

But I can't say enough good things about Henna. It's funny how we don't hear too much about it, or if we do hear about it, we hear horror stories!! But when used correctly, I can honestly say that it turns out great. I have found that it is nothing short of fantastic!

Here is a link to a free book with detailed instructions on how to use Henna. Good luck!

Lightening is tricky. I would recommend going to a salon.

If you must do it yourself, start with a good brand- Loreal- and stick to one that is only a shade or two lighter than your natural

color. Don't start out too drastic- you can always lighten it more later if you choose, but it is difficult to undo a mistake.

You should stay away from shades that say reddish blond or light red(dish) blond because they have a higher content of peroxide that will only turn it a bozo orange color.

You say your hair is dark brown, not sure if it's a brunette dark brown or the dark brown shades we know from the color wheel.

I've had clients in the hair salon with these shades and they were happy when we'd apply either a medium or dark auburn permanent color.

If they wanted a red shade %26amp; still afraid of too much change,I'd pull them thru a frost cap and they'd have red strands of highlights.

Definitely do a test strand from underneath on back of hair.

The boxes of color should show you pretty close to your end result if your natural hair shade is used as the sample, but still you cannot go by that chart.

Remember-you can go to a beauty school/college and let someone else do it for a fraction of the cost %26amp; they will have instructors advising %26amp; watching every step of the way.

Good Luck

Can having an excess of beta-carotene/vitamin A in ones diet turn ones hair from dark brown to red?T

yes

Can having an excess of beta-carotene/vitamin A in ones diet turn ones hair from dark brown to red?Thank you?

I'm afraid not. Hair color are determined by genetic genes.

Don't know about hair, but I know when I was drinking a lot of carrot juice, my skin started to change slightly orange. Doctor said it is okay and that I was very healthy. He also said that one time, he had a patient that was eating a lot of spinach on a daily basis. The patient's skin started turning green, so he went to the doctor. The doctor said that even though his skin was green, he was probably the healthiest person in the office because of all of the Vitamin C he was getting. Interesting phenomenon.

No it cannot change your hair color. It will change your skin color to an orange tint though. I am afraid if you want that color, you will have to find other ways, like coloring it. :)

No, but adding lemon juice to your hair will add natural highlights to your hair. Add lemon juice (squeeze it out of a lemon, a tablespoon's worth) to your hair and leave it on for 1-3 minutes. If your hair has naturally red highlights that's what will come out.
