i have very red hair and i usually go to a hair salon to get my hair done. but i am thinking of just dying it at home. will my hair take to box dye? i am just dying it a darker and richer red...and suggestions on what tyoe of dying procudt i should use?

Don't do it! I'm a hairstylist and box colors are pre-made and just ruin your hair..at first its great..it cost like ten bucks..what more could you want..but I have tons of clients who walk in saying they used box color and what not and thats hard to get out without damaging...

a suggestion is loreal hair dye, almost any kind of hair will take to that type of dye. but you should have someone help you.

i prefer drak haired gurls not red heads or blondes. but the main concern is hair length cuz short hair doesnt look right on most gurls

you can tell the reasons why you like that color and also you choose diff tones and shades like light brown or dark blonde..honey reddish,auburn,etc...it can also have highlights included...but natural ones...my fav hair color is...well to tell you the truth i like all of them but if i had to choose it would be light brown to an almost blondish color.

NATURAL blonde. You can tell when it's natural, it just looks healthy and shiny. I love light blonde hair on girls, not so much on guys though. My hair color is the only thing I truly love about my own appearance.

i'm in between hair shade phases.. dyed it black now i dont like it so removing it slowly..and then i wanna bleach it so i can dye it a different colour cos my hair is naturally quite dark. Would it work or would my hair go green wen i try and darkening it after lightening it?

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. Go to a salon to a color specialist and have them do it. By the time you pay to fix your mistakes you could have a specialist do it.

Yehh ..my hairdresser told me that thats alright just dont dye it black coz then it will take u about 4 or 5 times to get the black properply out of your hair xx

it will take a few steps to get it light but once you do, you can use all kinds of cool colors! they will be very vibrant!

firstly get a hairdresser but if you do have the urge to go about it yourself then make sure you put a dye with a red colour in it on top of the hair that has been bleached you will need to wait at least 2 days before you dye on the bleached hair . .The reason for a reddish color is putting a bit of pigment back on the hair .

I have long dark red hair, dark brown naturally..I have warm-toned, olive skin more than cooler-toned skin..I want to dye my hair a natural black, not jet black, but I'm not sure what shade to go with..I don't want any hint of red or blue in it, just more natural.. Would that mean I would need an ash base? Am I able to dye over the red without there being a red tint when I dye it natural black ??

There may be a red tint no matter what dye you use...a professional would probably do something to remove some of the existing dye from your hair because it's hard to know how it will react to a new layer of dye.

Your hair is porous, so right now the cuticle is coated with a color. Coating over it without doing a step inbetween to strip out the color, even though you'll be going darker, could lead to unpredictable results. If you don't want to end up as a freakshow, you might want to pay someone to do this for you. A good dye job on long hair will probably be about $115.

An ash base will keep some of the red tones and brassiness out if they're natural, but it's hard to say if it will help with the dyed tones. If you don't use a semi-permanent low-qual color like manic panic or an herbal-based color, and the box doesn't say blue-black, you shouldn't have to worry about blue tones.

L'Oreal Natural Match No-Ammonia Color-Calibrated Creme Hair Color, Natural Black 3C has an ash base...you might be able to find it at a Sally or other beauty store, but they also sell it from drugstore.com.

Wear gloves, follow the instructions carefully...good luck.

when you dye your hair ask for red highlights. that would soften the blackness and enhance your natural color.

If you are going to try doing it yourself I recommend Garnier Nutrisse. Their natural black color is the best I have found. It is black with brown undertones.

Maybe the first time you should have it done at a hairdressers, that way you can explain everything exactly to them, and get answers for home coloring next time.

DON'T DO IT. Once you dye your hair black you can never go back. I dyed my hair black last year and after 150 dollors later I can now dye it brown. You can't go over black dye. I tried. trust me !

Henna rinse will probably do it. It's hard to say what the exact shade will be.

it isn't possible. henna is "natural" but it's still a hair color. and it is impossible to know what color it will become. you could try Kool-aid and water rinse on your hair. the red color in the drink mix will stain the hair...but if your hair is blonde it will become pink.

In the mirror. Buy a can of Nestle streaks n' tips in red. I t shampoos out but wet hair well before appling shampoo.
