Question about red-haired middle-easterners?

Hi, my grandma is Chaldean and she is from the middle east (Northern Iraq). Her hair is red (which is VERYYY rare in the middle east). So I want to know where her red hair came from (seeing that red hair came from Europe). Did a group of Europeans once settle in Iraq who carried the red hair gene or something? I just really want to know.

Thanks.

Question about red-haired middle-easterners?

"In Asia, darker or mixed tinges of red hair can be found sporadically from Northern India, northern Middle East (such as Lebanon, Iran, Syria) and Pakistan, and in rare instances in Japan and the South Pacific. Red hair can be found amongst those of Iranian descent, such as the Pashtuns."

These are the Pashtuns: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pashtun

And also the Neanderthals:

"In an unprecedented feat of forensic anthropology, European researchers extracted enough DNA from two Neanderthal skulls to suggest their owners sported red hair and white skin when they were alive 43,000 and 50,000 years ago

Neanderthals left for Europe and the Middle East some 400,000 year"

Y'ever meet a Chinese man by the name of "Rusty" ?

Question about red-haired middle-easterners?

Middle Eastern people are very close to traditional "European whites". Many European empires ruled parts of the middle east, so it's possible that it was passed down from then, or just because she settled in Iraq a relatively short time ago.

Question about red-haired middle-easterners?

the indo german tribes originated in northern india before they settled Europe - in the region your grandmother is comming from red hair is actually as common as in Europe itself - it is the other way round - the red hair came to Europe from Northern India

Question about red-haired middle-easterners?

It is very hard to say that a person is of any sort of pure blood. there has been so much mixing through travel and wars, and such, that it is difficult to say that, if your grandmother is Chaldean, she doesn't have some genetic makeup from, say German tribes moving in search of new territory.
