Why does ginger hair annoy me?

first off, let it be known that i have nothing against gingers!!

its just that whenever i see red hair, the first thing i feel is a strange little surge of annoyance. but not if its someone i know personally, then i dont mind it..but just seeing that colour hair on a stranger...i dont know. it makes me feel uncomfortable.

am i gingerist or something?

i hope im not offending any gingers! i have nothing against red hair but why does it annoy me?

when i see blonde or brown or black hair its fine. but even since i was little, the sight of red hair has always annoyed me in a tiny way. i wonder why this is? is this wrong?

I think the term "ginger" is offensive in itself..but anyways, colors can spark negative and positive feelings in people, and sometimes no feelings, but the sight of red hair, causes a negative reaction, why it does, well that is something only you would know...a red head bully you when you were young? Or maybe its nothing personal, it's just the color itself....I find pale yellow to be frustrateing and hard to see and tiring and you're not alone, a lot of people do not find red hair appealing at all....

I'd have to guess that it is a cultural aversion you've picked up, conciously or not; Possibly comments you picked up from your parents, family, or neighbors growing up have colored your outlook unconciously.

If I had to further guess, I'd guess you were from the U.K. Apparently there is a deep seeded cultural bias against red hair in the U. K., or so I'm told. Plus, "Ginger" seems to be a U.K. term I think?

In the U.S., where I'm from, I never heard of anyone having a problem with anyone based on their hair being red. I'd never even heard the word 'ginger' in reference to someone with red hair until this year.

The most I've ever heard was the story that folks with red hair tended to have hot tempers or high libidos...both of which carry a sly kind of approval. *Shrug *

The closest comparison here that I can think of was hearing an uncle of mine say (I kid you not) "I have no problems with "coloreds". They just get on my nerves with the way they talk." He didn't realize how offensive he was being. It was just so ingrained in his way of thinking.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in overcoming your bias, unconcious or not.

There was somthing on the TV the other day that in a couple of hundred years red-heads will be extinct...Apprently this is because its the most natural colour and cave people we're mainly red and what colour are apes hair genrally? And over the years, the theres slowly become less due to natural mutation....so in the future thre wont be any left. So really, red heads r lucky to have the hair they have!

My mum is a red head and she annoys me hhaha no i love her so much but yes they can be annoying as they are fiery. I have red tinge in my hair from my mumsy and yes we are fiery people and have tempers when we want to. I work with a gal who had the same colour hair as the middle of a crunchie and shes awful and i despise her! But red heads in general dont annoy me they are cool people they have nothing wrong with them i think its just they might feel different attutide as they think theyre more special as not many of them around hahaha
