I'm a blond with blue eyes and my husband is a red head with blue eyes, my parents both have blue eyes, my mom has blond hair (very European roots) and my dad has brown hair with dark under tones *no red tones*. My husbands parents, his father has red hair with blue eyes ( again very European roots), his mother has brown eyes and brown hair. I know red is dominant as is dark but I wonder what colour hair our child will have, I know he will likely have blue eyes! And more then likely have redish blond hair or some kind! But what do you think he will have???

Actually red is a retarded blonde gene (no I'm not making this up, actual science). I believe your son will have like a strawberry blonde type hair. I'm blonde with hazel eyes, and my husband is Mexican. My son was borne with red hair and blueish eyes. It turned blonde and light brown eyes within a few weeks. He now has dirty blonde hair and caramel colored eyes like his father (the eyes, not the hair).

Your baby might NOT have blue eyes. Given that there ARE brown eyes in the family line, you do have a small chance of having a child with brown eyes, or possibly even hazel.

As for the hair, we have 2 blondes, 2 brunettes, and 2 red-heads. I think your child has a good chance of being a dark red-head, possibly with some lighter red/blonde highlights.

I'm no genius on the genetic front, though.

My brother and I both have red hair (blond mother, brown-haired father). We both married people with dark brown hair. Out of all of our 8 children (my brother has 4, I have 4), none of the kids have red hair. One child in each family has brown hair and the other three in each family are blonds.

I'm sure there's a scientific way to tell, but it seems a bit random to me. I've heard that red hair does tend to skip generations (my grandfather had red hair), but your husband and his father prove that it's not always the case, so who knows.

Just to guess, though, I'd say a strawberry blond with blue eyes. Regardless, it sounds like your baby will be beautiful :-)

Actually, red hair is a recessive trait, nn. Blonde is dominant N, and brown is dominant NN.
